The owner of a Wellington horse rescue accused of abusing the animals in her care was arrested today on 12 counts of animal cruelty, a misdemeanor.
Authorities said 27 animals seized from a Fort Collins (Colorado) rescue shelter will be placed in temporary homes until a court decides their future. Authorities said ranch owner Alesha Matchett could face animal cruelty charges. She has denied wrongdoing and said the animals were well cared-for.
